Great candidates deserve your enthusiastic support

The upcoming November 5 elections will be both top – down and bottom – up elections. President Biden and Senator Baldwin will carry the top,  Renee’ Paplham (Assembly) and Kristin Lyerly (Congress) will carry the local elections.

All four candidates have websites where you can learn about them and their campaigns and donate to help them win. They are all worthy of your enthusiastic support.

What an event it was!

This year’s Thomas Paine Pie Party event was by all accounts the “very best ever…”  Thanks to Event Chair Nancy Kidd and her crew of volunteers, we raised over $5,000 for the up-coming elections, fed and entertained 112 enthusiastic Democrats, got fired-up by former Lt. Gov Barbara Lawton, Renee Paplham and Kirsten Lyerly, and mourned the disaster Donald Trump is and could be for our country.

Several of the speakers quoted Thomas Paine. Here’s a memorable admonition: He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.”

We all enjoyed getting to know Isabella Dereszkiewicz-Hodowany, our 2024 Future of Democracy scholarship winner. She was introduced to the crowd by Yana Zenefski our current Youth Outreach Board member.

As people were leaving the Kress Center, they were heard talking about what a great time they had had. Asked what was so great about it, most said, “The candidates”!

Katie Dahl and Jimmy Kaplan invite you to join them in a concert for TIC

Much of our messaging, especially that which is done through signage and billboards, digital and social media, radio and YouTube spots, is done through the Tri-Couty Influence Campaign

or TIC. This coordinates our efforts with Indivisible Door County, Kewaunee and Brown County Democrats and gives us some economies of scale.

(Katie Dahl and Jimmy Kaplan continued)

To support these efforts we are hosting a CONCERT FOR DEMOCRACY featuring singer songwriters Katie Dahl and Jimmy Kaplan who are donating their talent. We hope you can join us Sunday June 30, 2:00- 4:00, at the EpiCenter building lobby, 217 Fourth Ave., Sturgeon Bay (where our office is).

Beer and wine will be available along with popcorn, great music and good conversation on an early summer afternoon.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Details and reservations are at https://secure.actblue.com/  We hope you can join us. Thank you Katie and Jimmy!

Happy Pride Month

During June we take time to celebrate our victories, continue the work of empowering LGBTQ+ communities, and double down in the fight to protect rights for some of our most marginalized friends and neighbors.

Republicans across the country are marking the celebration by making dangerous attacks against LGBTQ+ folks, especially trans kids.

Join us Saturday, June 29, 9:00- 5:00 at Martin Park (3rd Ave. and Oregon St.) in Sturgeon Bay to indeed celebrate… we will have a table at the events there.

The office and signs

As we start the summer and  the County gets really busy, our hope is to have the office open 7 days a week from noon to 6:00 with two shifts each day.

We have about half the shifts scheduled so we still need volunteers and subs primarily for Sundays- Tuesdays.  We can work around vacations and family visits, training is available and, most of the time, it is a really good experience.  Please consider volunteering!

Leave a message at the office (920-365-1047) for Brenda Lange to get more information.

One of the main office jobs is distributing signs. Right now we have Biden/ Harris and Vote for Democrats signs available.

And, finally

Up until June 1, many of us were actively collecting signatures on Tammy Baldwin, Kristen Lyerly and Renee Paplham Nominating Petitions.

Each of the candidates was gratified to get 180+ signatures collected at the office, from door-to-door canvasing and from petitions circulated at the Thomas Paine event.

WELL DONE!
