Ben Wikler at the 75th Democratic State Convention

As we gather this weekend for our 75th state convention, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin has unprecedented organizational strength, and we’re united to advance the work of President Biden and Vice President Harris, Senator Baldwin, and Democrats up and down the ticket.

And yet, the forces of the far right are once again full of passionate intensity. From Donald Trump to Eric Hovde to our six-member Republican House delegation, to Robin Vos and Republicans in both legislative chambers, the Republicans that Wisconsinites will see on their ballots this November constantly choose the agenda of far-right special interests over the values and needs of Wisconsin’s voters.

They won’t give up power without a massive struggle. In fact, they attempt to hold on to it even when they lose.

As we prepare for the first election on new, hard-won fair maps, we can see the impact of our collective perseverance and commitment. When going gets rough, we organize. And we’re organizing as never before.

This November 5, by flipping our state Assembly, breaking the supermajority in our state Senate, expanding our Democratic U.S. House delegation, reelecting Senator Baldwin, and ensuring that Biden and Harris send Trump and MAGA into the dustbin of history, we can mark a turning point toward a new progressive era in Wisconsin.

75 years from now, the year will be 2099. My six-year-old son Jack will be 81. Let’s pour everything we’ve got into this year—so that, in that far-off time, Democrats can look back at 2024 as a turning point in the neverending fight for freedom, and celebrate a year when the champions of freedom, decency, and democracy made history yet again.

In solidarity,

Ben

The film represents THE Trump Story — the story of how we got here and how we can get out of it. It’s a funny and infuriating film about how we, as a country, arrived at a time that could allow this man to be President. You can
