When you receive your membership letter in late April, please consider renewing or joining
In our new membership system, all membership renewals are targeted for May of each year. You should receive a letter asking you to renew your Democratic Party of Door County membership or to become a member in late April.
The letter will also ask you to consider making a generous donation to the work of the DP-DC and to become a volunteer for the push through the summer and fall to the November 5 elections.
Office at 217 N. 4th Ave. to open
Planning and recruiting are underway to open our office, at least, half time beginning in mid-April. Plans now are for 11:00-5:00 Wed, Thurs and Fri and 11:00-2:00 on Saturdays.
The office is our best recruiting tool for new members and volunteers. We already have some signs to distribute and information for “fence sitters.” If you can help us expand our hours by volunteering, please leave a message on
920-365-1047 and we will get back to you.
TIC recognized and expanding
The Tri-County Influence Campaign is best known by its blue “Vote for Democrats. They Vote for US.” signs that were ubiquitous in Brown, Door and Kewaunee Counties last elections.
TIC is a grass roots, values- focused coalition of the Democratic Parties of those three counties aimed at creating effective messaging to “invigorate, educate and persuade voters to vote for progressive candidates.”
In addition to billboards and yard signs, TIC develops videos and clips/ ads for social media and local radio. County parties in over 40 counties are planning to adapt TIC materials to their needs in the upcoming months.
When NBC news was putting together a story on politics in Wisconsin, they began with a collage of TIC signs.
Non-partisan elections and DP-DC
The Democratic Party of Door County Board members are frequently asked why we are not more active in non-partisan elections which often are more important to people’s lives than even national elections.
There are two important reasons:
- Usually non-partisan candidates do not want to appear to be aligned with only one political party so that they do not lose voters from the other party. Candidates will often try to play it both ways which is to get assistance and volunteers from the Party without getting the “brand” of an endorsement.
- County Democratic Parties have been barred from direct non-partisan election activities by the State Party Constitution and, therefore, of their own County Party Constitution.
