August 26, 2024 – 5th Annual Women’s Equality Day Car Parade honoring the movement leading up to the 19th Amendment being adopted as law on August 26, 1920. Come decorate your car and honk your horn! Prizes for the best decorated cars! All are welcome! No need to register.
Parade Guidelines:

Only personal vehicles with a driver and additional people.

This is a car parade only, no walking. No floats, No advertising, No political party or candidate signs.

You are welcome and encouraged to decorate your car for this event. Examples: “Votes for Women”, 104 years, 1920-2024, Our Vote is Our Voice, Woman Power, and women’s issues and rights signs are all OK as long as they don’t name a political party. Other “swag”, noisemakers, bells, streamers, flags —-YES! Non-decorated cars are ok too, the more the merrier! Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated cars!

Feel free to dress as your favorite suffragist or women’s rights advocate, or don a big 1920’s-style hat, or come as you are!

Time: Parade starts at noon Join the line up of cars at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Jefferson St. Cars will line up extending along 3rd Avenue.
Program: Parade ends at Martin Park where we have a joint reading by all present of the 19th Amendment which states that ”The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”
At the park, while enjoying the program and listening to Cathy Grier + the Troublemakers All-Female Band, you are invited to pick up a cookie and visit our tables with information about voting registration, League of Women Voters Membership, and the League’s work.
