Republican Power Grab vs. Biden/Microsoft Announcement at Foxconn Site

Edited by Allin Walker

Republican Power Play Holds Up Allocated Funds

Republicans are in the midst of one of their most egregious power trips yet: refusing to release $125 million for clean water—all while Wisconsinites drink and clean and bathe using bottled water.

They’re also refusing to release $15 million to support health care in western Wisconsin following the closure of two hospitals and 19 care clinics in the region, forcing people to drive hours out of the way for care.

They’re even playing games with funding for our university system, while campuses close and students lose educational opportunities in the communities where they grew up.

We know that Democrats are fighting for things that the vast majority of Wisconsinites want. People want clean drinking water, they want great public schools, they want hospitals that are open when they need them. These are common-sense ideas that should not be subject to a huge political debate—yet they are, because of Republicans’ petty political games.

After 13 long years, we’ve arrived at a moment of accountability at last.

In a dark moment for our democracy nationwide, and for democracy globally, this is a bright spot.

President Biden, Microsoft Announce $3.3 Billion Investment at Former Foxconn Site

This Wednesday, President Joe Biden stopped in Racine to announce a $3.3 billion investment from Microsoft to build a new data center at the site of Donald Trump and Scott Walker’s Foxconn debacle. Microsoft President Brad Smith praised the Biden administration and Governor Evers for economic policies that made the multi-billion dollar investment possible.

The multi-billion dollar investment in southeastern Wisconsin paints a sharp contrast between Donald Trump, who failed to deliver on his lofty promises of new jobs and investments for Wisconsin, and President Biden, who is creating thousands of union construction jobs at the Microsoft site and bringing historic investments and jobs home to Wisconsin.
