Gallagher to Depart – Wisconsin Without Representation

Statement on Congressman Mike Gallagher’s Early Departure

Today’s announcement by Congressman Mike Gallagher of his decision to vacate his House seat before the end of his term highlights the deepening dysfunction within the Republican party. While there are areas where Congressman Gallagher and we, at Women Win Wisconsin, hold differing political views, it’s evident that we share concerns over the current state of theRepublican Congress.

More Evidence of  Republican Party’s Instability

Gallagher’s decision to depart on April 19, 2024, places Northeast Wisconsin in a challenging position, leaving it without representation in Washington  DC, and  creating a leadership void until the general election in November. This action extends beyond a simple resignation; it represents a protest gainst the ongoing deterioration of the Republican Party. Gallagher’s exit, alongside the early departures of other Republican members and the turmoil urrounding the House Speaker’s position, underscores the party’s instability.

In contrast, we at Women Win Wisconsin demonstrate unity, teamwork, and a strong commitment to our community. As a movement representing Northeast Wisconsin, we are united in our dedication to serving and addressing the critical issues facing our fellow Wisconsinites. Gallagher’s departure underscores the need for steadfast leadership dedicated to the welfare of its constituents.

Women-Win-Wisconsin say Now is the Time to fill the NE Wisconsin Leadership Gap.

We pledge to tirelessly work towards filling the leadership gap in Northeast Wisconsin and to bring about positive change in these turbulent times. We believe that both America and Wisconsin deserve stable, effective, and responsive leadership.

Now is the time for action. We stand ready to provide the leadership and dedication our community needs. The departure of Congressman Gallagher is a
stark reminder that Wisconsin deserves better. We at Women Win Wisconsin demonstrated unity, teamwork, and a strong commitment are committed to making that a reality.

The Women Win Wisconsin team – Dr. Kristin Lyerly, Julie Hancock, Kelly Peterson and Alicia Saunders – share this statement on Congressman Mike Gallagher’s announcement yesterday that he will be exiting the House on April 19th, leaving Wisconsin’s 8th District without representation for the remainder of 2024.
